Scarification
Why Scarify
We scarify to remove the thatch from the lawn. Thatch is a build up of organic matter between the grass and the soil. A certain amount of thatch can be beneficial for a lawn but too much can prevent water, air and nutrients from penetrating the soil.
When?
The best time to scarify is toward the end of the year to allow the lawn to recover before the spring growth.
How Often?
There are no set rules and each lawn is individual, but as a rule of thumb, every 3 to 4 years is usually sufficient.
