Aeration
Why Aerate?
Aeration breaks up the soil 2-3 inches below the surface. This is essential if the lawn has been compacted (i.e. children playing on it or heavy objects left on it for a long period of time). Aeration allows oxygen to get to the roots.
When?
The best time to aerate is toward the end of the year to allow the frost to get in and further break up the soil.
How Often?
There are no set rules and each lawn is individually assessed, but as a rule of thumb, every 3 to 4 years is usually sufficient.
